We are recruiting an exceptional individual for a unique opportunity to become part of our management team as Group Operations Manager.
Established in 1968, MorVend is a leading vending operator across East Anglia, the Home Counties and London. Operating from two depots, in Suffolk and Hertfordshire, with an established yet dynamic customer base, we are renowned for our high-quality service and are well respected within the industry. Our operations team is committed to delivering reliable vending solutions and excellent customer experiences, combined with operational efficiencies to drive growth.
The role of Operations Manager is key to achieving long-term success through the day-to-day management of a sizeable, well-structured and established operations department. Comprising of vending and Micromarket route operators, wholesale delivery and warehouse operations, reliefs, supervisors, office personnel and the associated administration encompassing these divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Group Operations Manager you will be required to lead and oversee our daily operations across the Company. You will be responsible for;
·Staff Leadership & Management: Training and developing a team of 30 across two warehouses and 20 operated routes, fostering a motivated and high-performing work force. Inclusive of recruitment, induction and the ongoing performance management of individuals.
·Route & Warehouse Management: Allocating work to staff and coordinating operator routes, plan and optimise route structures, manage visit patterns, and integrate new business. Manage product changes, stock and wastage across the business, inclusive of wholesale purchases and deliveries.
·Buying & Product Analysis: Align efficient purchasing, monitor pricing, manage issues and complaints, ensure compliance to rebate schemes and review regularly. Build and maintain positive working relationships with our chosen suppliers. Monitor market trends to meet our customer preferences whilst maintaining volume of product sales.
·Strategic Planning & Processes: Implement operational strategies that align with business goals, increase efficiency, productivity and reduce costs to maximise the profitability of the department. This will be achieved in both the day-to-day running of operations, alongside leading long-term and ongoing projects.
·System Integration & Data Management: Fully utilise the software systems in place to effectively run the department across various platforms.
·Customer Experience: Ensure the highest standards of customer satisfaction by managing operations to support the customers’ needs, fulfilling their expectations and maintaining our high standards. Frequent liaison is required across departments, colleagues and directly with customers to achieve this.
·Fleet Management: Ensure company vehicles are well-maintained, manage costs associated with the fleet, oversee the completion of audits and identify purchase requirements. Handle subsidiaries relating to the fleet, such as; insurance claims, fuel card management and roadside support.
·Health & Safety: Coordinate audits, compile and update necessary documents and certification to comply with health and safety requirements within the department, across the premises and diligence to the safety of employees at all times.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
·Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
·Experience in operations and strategic planning, with a proven ability to manage a team and oversee multiple divisions and functions.
·Outstanding attitude and a proactive approach towards customer service.
·Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
·Experience with stock management, retailing, route optimisation, and data analysis.
·Ability to track key performance indicators for operational success.
·Competent computer literacy and navigation of software and technology systems.
·Strong understanding of health and safety compliance, including risk assessments and managing training requirements.
·IOSH or similar health and safety qualifications would be advantageous.
Additional Information:
The ideal candidate will be based in the region. This position is a full time, office-based role and regular travel will be required between our two depots in Suffolk and Hertfordshire. Competitive salary; based on experience with the option of a Company vehicle.
