Job summary The role will entail coordinating the Induction of Labour (IOL) service through admissions and transfers to ensure safe, efficient and effective flow. The post holder will also have the opportunity to develop and implement clinical guidelines and care pathways relating to IOL to improve patient safety and flow whilst acting as a point of contact for the multidisciplinary team through prioritisation of admissions and transfers. Main duties of the job Work closely with the matrons and ward managers to ensure the efficient and effective running of the service. Book IOL's in accordance with local guidelines with support from the Consultant body. Work closely with the antenatal ward midwives, Delivery Suite coordinators/flow coordinators, matrons and Consultant Obstetricians to ensure the efficient and effective flow of those women undergoing an IOL within the department. Ensure all women undergoing IOL have evidence-based information with shared decision making for the IOL process Support the introduction of new initiatives in relation to IOL such as stretch and sweep clinics, IOL audits and further research. Contribute to the development of woman-centered services within maternity Attend and update regarding those women undergoing an IOL at the daily and LMNS huddles as required. Assist within the clinical areas on both the antenatal ward and Labour ward as required to facilitate timely commencement of the IOL procedure and prevent delays of those awaiting an artificial rupture of membranes (ARM).
