Due to the partnership between Hays and Birmingham City Council, we are looking to recruit an officer to join the Housing Management team as a Neighbourhood Officer. Your new role
Following a successful pilot. Birmingham City Council are continuing to fund a multidisciplinary Supported Exempt Accommodation team to undertake inspections of Exempt accommodation and improve the standard of provision within Birmingham.
They are looking for enthusiastic candidates for the Exempt Accommodation Officer role who possess property standard inspection experience of properties in multiple occupations.
It is essential that candidates are excellent communicators both in writing and in person, as the role also involves responding to complaints from elected members and citizens of Birmingham.
Problem-solving skills are a key requirement together with experience of achieving positive outcomes.
Officers are able to work from home, with some office attendance.
Car Mileage expenses are payable for visits within the Birmingham City Council Local Authority area.
You will not need to have an HMO licensing background.
What you'll need to succeed
You will need up-to-date knowledge and understanding of housing landlord and tenant policy and procedures where pertinent to the role, good case management, planning and organising skills. An ability to undertake risk assessments and implement/monitor safe working practice is required.
It is also important to have an understanding of and ability to comply with relevant legislation, including health and safety and equality in service delivery, service provision and employment.
Having experience of the HHSRS inspection regime will be a distinct advantage, but is not essential if you are able to learn at pace.
You will need a housing background, having worked with vulnerable persons or persons who have lived in supported accommodation.
In addition, this role will be an ASAP start. Before starting, you will need to pass your reference and compliance checks. On registration, please have your 2 most recent employment details available for reference checks.
Driving Licence essential.
What you'll get in return
This is a full-time, temporary role based in Birmingham. This is a temporary contract but may be open to extension. This role is a Grade 4 position, with a rate of £17.53 per hour (PAYE) + holiday allowance.
Due to the council going through a period of transition, permanent opportunities may be available.
