It is hoped that this young person will attend a summer program with her PA. Times for the summer may vary depending on the activities.
This young person really is a delight to be around. She has a fantastic sense of humour, loves a laugh and a joke. She is looking for PA’s who are fun to hang out with, who will help her get up each morning, have breakfast and get ready for school. She enjoys activities such as arts and crafts, shopping, watching TV shows, meeting up with her friend, going for coffee, pizza, reading and swimming. She has her own wheelchair accessible vehicle so requires PA’s who are confident driving her van.
The role will include assisting her with personal care hence why she has requested female support: she has Cerebral Palsy, well controlled epilepsy and a mild cognitive impairment. She uses a wheelchair at all times and relies on equipment such as a shower chair, turner and specialist toilet to keep her and her carer safe. Her epilepsy is well controlled but the successful candidates will need training, which will be provided.
In addition to the successful candidate being all of the above, most importantly, this young person needs someone who is patient, calm and who has a happy and positive outlook. She has a startle reflex which is triggered if anyone raises their voices. The successful candidate will hopefully have experience in supporting a young person with a disability but it is most important that they have an understanding of her condition and what this means for her and supporting her to live her best life.
Shadowing opportunities with the parent will be expected to enable any carer to get to know her and her needs.
This is a non-smoking household.
Hourly rate is £17 per hour for daytime shifts and £19 per hour for nightshift (11pm to 6am).
This is an opportunity to help a young person have lots of fun and live her best life so if you would like to be part of this please get in touch.
