Job Purpose:
We have a large complex programme to modernise our Customer Services operation and systems, within which there are multi-faceted delivery streams, a very keen Steerco and Business Sponsor who know exactly what they want, and we’re looking to enhance the existing team with a Senior PM who has managed such complexity before, can work effectively with Steerco/Sponsor management and direct the existing PMs on a day to day basis. Ideally the person would have solid Transformation experience, have a background in Customer Services process enhancements and a strong understanding of Agile.
The Senior Project Manager is accountable for driving delivery of strategic / complex projects and programme of work to achieve defined objectives, they are supported by a multi-disciplined team across the IT & Change function and key business users as well as senior stakeholders across the organisation to maximise the achievement of the delivery outcomes.
The Senior Project Manager has autonomy to manage, oversee, monitor and approve all elements of assigned projects from inception to completion, including proposals/business case development, planning, procurement, external party management, testing, delivery, acceptance of projects and achievement of benefits.
The Senior Project Manager will articulate and maintain a clear line of sight through package/project delivery to the over-arching strategic objectives of the portfolio team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Plans and directs the integration of project team members across multiple sites and disciplines, including the integration of product teams and representing various functional areas within the company to deliver the desired business outcomes.
* Responsible for the project delivery, following Transformation Office processes and outcomes for all stages of project lifecycle.
* Responsible for regular and accurate reporting of financial information, and ensuring that the financial performance within the project is maximised.
* Main point of escalation for project deliverables throughout the project lifecycle managing all aspects of the day to day administration and control of project activities, removing blockages from delivery team or scrum master.
* Demonstrates strong communication skills and engagement with all levels of the organisation including senior stakeholders with regular and accurate reporting.
* Responsible for effective change control management and impact assessment.
* Provides leadership within IT & Change function to champion best practices and standards and ensures that projects adhere to them providing feedback on enhancements.
* Works with Portfolio Lead to develop and maintain the Portfolio Roadmap.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
* Strong working knowledge of project management best practices and delivery disciplines (Project Management, Portfolio Planning, Governance, budgeting, controls, benefit realisation) within a Financial Services organisation.
* Experience of Project Delivery methodologies and practices (Waterfall and Agile and Lean practices).
* Possesses excellent communication and presentation skills both verbally and in writing and to ability to lead professionals across various disciplines.
* Displays commercial acumen when working with external parties and delivering project outcomes.
* Excellent Communication skills, with experience of technical and non-technical communication with ability to confer a technically detailed scenario in a manner that is easily understood by those stakeholder groups.
* Experience of working effectively in pressure situations.
* Ability to multi-task and effectively manage large complex projects and multiple workstreams within a project.
* Aptitude for analytical and creative thinking, with a keen attention to detail.
* Strong team player with problem-solving mindset.
* An optimistic and upbeat personal manner, with ability to motivate and engage others.
* Proven experience and skill in acting independently with initiative and decisiveness, coupled with a keen awareness of when to escalate issues.
Qualifications:
* Prince II or PMP qualification required.
* Agile qualification, or studying towards certification.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in Project Management.
