We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our business as we continue to scale.
We are seeking a skilled and meticulous Mechanical Engineer, wanting to join a company at the forefront of electrical grid technology. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to contribute to the green energy transition through meaningful and impactful work.
This position plays a key role in assembling and testing mechanical components and systems for electrical products. The ideal candidate will have mechanical engineering training or experience, with assembly and fabrication skills and the ability to work in design, analysis or detailing of mechanical components.
The person will require a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and shift between different work streams.

You'll spend your time:
* Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and finished products based on engineering drawings, schematics, and work orders
* Ensure precise and efficient mechanical assembly of electrical products, including enclosures, connectors, brackets, fasteners, etc
* Safely and confidently operate power/hand tools (e.g. drills, wrenches, torque drivers, and measuring instruments)
* Conduct quality checks on assembled components and systems to ensure they meet specifications and safety standards
* Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to troubleshoot issues during assembly/test, and participate in continuous improvement or RCA
* Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
* Assist in the testing and inspection of built systems, including confirming product functionality before final approval
* Develop 2D/3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks)
* Navigate a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software environment (Windchill), with adherence to working practices
* Assist in the design and improvement of mechanical systems and components
* Define detailed requirements from System requirements, perform calculations and simulations to validate specifications or designs
* Contribute to detailed documentation, including BOMs, and assembly instructions
* Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and production supervisors to refine designs, BOMs and assembly instructions
* Define and/or follow SOPs detailing correct assembly instructions
The key experience we're looking for:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering modern apprenticeship (MA) or related experience
* Experience in mechanical assembly or manufacturing in a production environment
* Ability to draft, read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals
* Familiarity with safety regulations, working practices and quality standards in a manufacturing environment
* Strong capability with mechanical assembly techniques, tools, and equipment
* Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
* Interest and ability to work in both a practical capacity and a design environment
* Proactive work ethic and ability to work independently.
The following would be advantageous:
* Experience in electrical manufacturing and testing environments
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
* Ability to produce technical documentation such as engineering drawings in accordance with BS8888 & other such relevant standards
* Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or other engineering analysis tools.
* Operate and troubleshoot 3D Printers for prototyping components
* Confidence and professionalism to communicate with suppliers
