Job summary Our 31 bedded Respiratory Ward is looking for a Band 5 Staff nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. Our ward involves a variety of patients with Acute/chronic medical conditions, specialising in Respiratory illness/diseases. Our multi-disciplinary are approachable and supportive and all strive to provide high standards of care to our patients. Within the ward, we have high-care capacity where patients require NIV/NHF to support them in their recovery or palliation of illnesses. There are plenty of development opportunities available with an on ward practice educator who can support you in completing various competencies relating to Respiratory/Acute care. Main duties of the job To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals. To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified. To provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthy lifestyle. To complete patient documentation to Trust standard. To maintain a safe ward/department environment. To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways. To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication. To ensure patient confidentiality. To assist in the development and implementation of nursing practice guidelines, standards and policies. To assist in the training and development of Healthcare assistants and complete training as required.
