Registered Mental Health Nurse Bank Staff
The role of Bank RMN is to facilitate the safe and therapeutic care of the residents in the care of Ashness House. You will be responsible for ensuring all the day-to-day activities the residents require to continue their recovery journey are delivered. You'll coordinate that with the wider MDT and senior nursing leadership team.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to ensure the smooth running of the unit in coordination and cooperation with the wider team, ensuring the residents are safe, well cared for, and can access their recovery programme.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Registered Mental Health Nurse (Bank)
Accountable to: Hospital Director
Responsible to: Clinical Services Manager
Job Summary
1. To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team in developing and maintaining a ward environment that facilitates the provision of Best Practice in terms of clinical care.
2. To act as a named nurse for allocated patients.
3. To take a lead responsibility for ensuring patients care plans are up-to-date and are recovery focused.
4. To continuously manage risk assessment and management plans, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.
5. To act as shift coordinator as allocated.
Responsible for:
1. Maintaining a professional and high standard of patient care.
2. Planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
3. To liaise and offer support to relatives and significant others.
4. Completing all relevant documentation in accordance with Pathfinder Ashness House procedures and professional guidelines.
5. Remaining up to date with clinical developments in accordance with PREP.
6. Compliance with the NMC code of conduct, Scope of Professional Practice and Standards of Record Keeping.
7. Ensuring patients’ rights to confidentiality are respected and that Pathfinder Ashness House and professional policies are adhered to.
8. Adhering to all Pathfinder Ashness House policies, procedures and local protocols.
9. To utilise resources appropriately and minimise waste.
Main Tasks - Professional:
1. To adhere to the named nurse concept to ensure that nursing care is organised to promote an individualised approach to care.
2. To ensure the completion of necessary documentation of patient care planning and all other nursing and clinical documentation.
3. In conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team, evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and care.
4. To report concerns about patient care, treatment, or progress to senior nursing staff.
5. To ensure that there is total adherence to the Mental Health Act 1983 and that patients’ rights are always upheld.
6. To ensure the completion of clinical and administrative documentation in accordance with Pathfinder Ashness House procedure.
7. To adhere to Pathfinder Ashness House policy and procedure and current legislation in relation to witnessing, administering, and storage of medication.
8. To advise non-clinical staff within the hospital on the management of patients with mental illness.
9. To initiate/participate in nursing and other research as appropriate.
Main Tasks - Managerial:
1. To ensure that the physical environment of the ward is maintained to comply with requirements of Health and Safety Regulations and to ensure that Pathfinder Ashness House policy is complied with.
2. To report any Health and Safety concerns immediately as per Company procedure.
3. To ensure stock items are requisitioned as appropriate.
4. To prepare reports of complaints, accidents, or incidents in accordance with Pathfinder Ashness House policy and procedure.
5. To act as an officer for the receipt of documents for the Mental Health Act 1983 in the absence of senior nursing or administration staff.
6. To ensure adherence to all emergency procedures e.g., Fire, PIT Alarm.
7. To participate in the coaching, development, and supervision of junior staff where requested.
Main Tasks - General:
1. To participate in in-service training including all statutory/mandatory training.
2. To develop positive relationships with outside agencies and to always promote the Unit's services.
3. To recognise the importance of customer care and to present a positive, courteous, and helpful attitude always.
4. To act up in the absence of senior staff.
5. To carry out any other functions within capabilities as requested by senior staff.

1. Correctly undertaking assessment tasks that have been delegated in relation to the specific individual as agreed with the team.
2. Recording the information related to the task accurately and passing it to the relevant person in the team on time.
3. Identifying and reporting any significant changes that might affect the individual's health and wellbeing.

Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate successful completion of preceptorship programme.
* Experience of working and leading a nursing team.
* Experience of working in adult mental health in-patient wards.
