Job Title: 4Skills Advisor (Industry Skills)
Reports to: 4Skills Manager
Department: Nations and Regions (Operations)
Location: Leeds
Job Grade: P2
Job Family: Project / Programme Management
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
As part of C4's '4All the UK' strategy, in October 2019 we opened a new national HQ in Leeds and a Creative Hub in both Bristol and Glasgow. This will ensure that we serve the whole of the UK and was the biggest change to the organisation's structure in its history. A key part of this strategy is to attract and develop talent across the UK. 4Skills is our training and development initiative that brings together all our existing training schemes across C4. This ongoing programme is focused on finding and nurturing talent from the Nations and Regions with the aim of attracting people into broadcasting and production from diverse backgrounds. 4Skills will address skills gaps and also play a key role in progressing the careers of those already in the industry.
JOB PURPOSE
In this role you'll play a key role in delivering some of our 4Skills projects, in particular our external-facing offer, covering initiatives to develop new writers, content development funding for production companies and supporting the career development of those already in the sector. You'll help 4Skills to develop strong industry partnerships, develop the creative sector across the Nations and Regions and support people to grow in their careers.
Reporting into our 4Skills Manager, you'll focus on delivering a range of key 4Skills projects, such as 4Skills Accelerate, Content Development Partnerships, Content Creatives, Business Boost and our C4 New Writers Scheme. More information on 4Skills can be found at www.careers.channel4.com/4skills.
You'll need to be able to manage your own time effectively and work on multiple projects. You'll have a real passion to make a difference and remove barriers for people to access careers in the industry, and a strong understanding of the TV production sector outside of London. You'll use your project skills to support delivery across the 4Skills portfolio, working with the 4Skills team, colleagues across other parts of the business (such as Commissioning and Creative Diversity) and external organisations (such as training providers, ScreenSkills and regional Screen Agencies).
The role is based at the National C4 HQ in Leeds and may require travel when running events in the nations and regions. Some evening and weekend work will be required occasionally for which you'll be given time back in lieu.
