We are currently looking to recruit production machine operatives to support in a conversion department for our client based in Leeds (LS9).
THE SITE IS STRICTLY NON-SMOKING
The role is working for a flexible plastics manufacturer. The client carries out the full process at their site in Leeds from the extrusion of the plastic through to the printing, laminating, and cutting. They manufacture flexible packaging for food and beverage products, among others.
THE ROLE:
They are looking for candidates to join their conversion department. This is where the product is finished. You will support the machine operators by checking the quality of the finished product and packing the product accordingly.
THE SHIFTS ARE:
Monday - Friday rotating weekly on 06:00 am - 14:00 pm & 14:00 pm - 22:00 pm.
NO WEEKENDS!
*You must be able to rotate & commute to shifts for both shifts.*
PAY RATE: £11.80 an hour. This rises after 12 weeks once permanent.
KEY DUTIES:
1. Responsible for running one of the company's Conversion machines, producing work right first time to customer specifications, achieving all company operational KPIs.
2. Ability to operate all machines within the department with training.
3. Ensure that slitting jobs are prioritised and organised in line with the production schedule.
4. Ensure the correct works ticket is being used prior to Conversion.
5. Ensure all documentation is correctly filled out and signed on works ticket on completion of required conversion job.
6. Trained and understands the use and need of Radius system.
7. Ensure working area is clean, tidy, and obstruction-free.
8. Embrace continuous improvement initiatives.
9. Communicate with Slitting and Conversion Manager or Shift Manager any defaults.
10. Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental, and quality standards including BRC & ISO.
11. Organise your workload in line with the daily print programme, ensuring work is delivered against targets and customer requirements.
12. Ensure that all established quality standards are met.
13. Assist with production operations as and when required, including the maintenance and upkeep of relevant equipment.
14. Check Orders, process control, paperwork, and requirements in advance of the plan, to enable production to operate effectively. Ensure the Shift Manager is notified immediately of anything missing or non-conformities.
15. Provide overtime cover as necessary and reasonable.
16. Follow cleaning regime ensuring all documentation is completed.
17. Undertake reasonable requests as directed by management from time to time.
18. Learn basic controls for one machine e.g., stop, start, e-stops, and counter.
19. Pack bags and get used to handling the bags.
20. Put reels on and taping joins so they go through the machine without any issues.
21. Understand the job bag specifications and be able to check the bag against this.
22. Conduct quality checks on the bags and fill in the quality check sheet.
23. Use Radius to ensure the quantity and print out a label for the box.
24. Run the machine with minimal supervision.
25. Set up a job from start to finish.
