Job Introduction
Brighton & Hove is a great place to live, learn, work, and visit. Our diverse and vibrant community is passionate about the city, and there’s a shared commitment to celebrating and promoting all that makes Brighton & Hove unique.
We are committed to delivering an outstanding service to our residents and making Tenancy Services the first choice for a Housing Manager to work.
If you are looking to work in a flexible and forward-thinking organisation and you are an experienced Housing Manager looking for an exciting new challenge, we would be delighted to hear from you.
You’ll be working in a directorate dedicated to empowering people from different communities and backgrounds to come together, live well, and thrive, supported by our city-wide work on fairness, inclusion, and engagement.
You will have a relevant professional qualification or proven experience of working in housing at this level. Your experience will have given you an excellent knowledge and understanding of the full range of housing management services, including the relevant legal context. You will be comfortable managing a team of Housing Officers handling a diverse and complex caseload in a high-demand service and will be a strong collaborator with various teams in a multi-agency setting.
Additionally, you’ll have the ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, a deep understanding of the needs of our different communities and residents, and the skills to ensure accessibility and inclusion in your work.
We have a full-time vacancy available, with some flexible working options, including working from home to support a positive work/life balance. We can also offer fully office-based arrangements. Our diverse team is based across the city in one of our three housing offices and at our Housing Centre based in Moulsecoomb. On the days you are working in the office, you will be in a spacious and welcoming working environment, and whether working in the office or remotely, you will become part of our friendly and supportive management team.
In return, we can offer you a competitive salary, training and qualifications, career progression with the opportunity to lead on bespoke projects, flexible working, a generous annual leave allowance with the opportunity to buy extra days, staff discounts, and admittance into the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Application Process
Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They provide all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.
As part of your application, you will need to upload your Application Form and answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are crucial as they will be used to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Application Form guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk) and (Shortlisting guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chances of success in the shortlisting process.
Additional Information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in our working arrangements while providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work-life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preferences agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
