About Us:

We are seeking to appoint an Advisory Teacher for SLCN to support the learning and development of pupils with SLCN/DLD across schools in Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. The post holder will act as the Project Lead for the ‘Confident Communicators’ an innovative therapy-led programme for children at SEN support level aged 4 to 6 years old, commencing in September 2024.


The post holder will support the identification and understanding of SLCN within schools and settings, working closely with professionals to develop their skills through the delivery of bespoke training and consultation support.


You will have access to a wide range of development opportunities and training offered through our Inclusion service and external partners.

The Role:

Working in a team, you will be expected to demonstrate the following:
• To support the learning and development of pupils with SLCN/DLD
• To lead the ‘Confident Communicators Programme’ supporting children at SEN support level aged 4 to 6 years old to access timely therapy lead interventions across the Bi-Borough
• To design and implement bespoke training packages and to meet individual schools needs at both universal and targeted levels of support
• To monitor and track the progress and development of children supported by the service
• To support and develop the understanding of SLCN/DLD through the delivery of training and consultation sessions to professionals and families
• To assist the local authority in conjunction with other service providers to develop a strategic whole system approach to SLCN
• To provide quality assurance activities for educational settings in their use of SLCN materials and resources
• To co-deliver interventions with the CLCH NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service

About You:

As an Advisory Teacher for SLCN, you will be a knowledgeable and passionate advocate for children with SLCN. You will be experienced in building strong relationships with multi-agency partners and parents to achieve positive outcomes for pupils.


The postholder will be responsible for maintaining detailed records of their work and interventions to evidence the impact of the service.


You will have in depth understanding of the Children’s and Families Act, the SEND Code of Practice, EHC assessment and planning and other relevant educational legislation/initiatives.
