Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Contract: Full-Time
Salary: £90 - £120 per day
We are looking for a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a primary school in Colchester on a full-time basis. As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the learning experience for primary school students. You will support class teachers in delivering engaging lessons, helping students with their academic development, and promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about education and making a difference in children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality support to teachers in delivering lessons and activities to students across a range of subjects.
* Lead small group interventions to support students’ academic progress and development.
* Assist children in developing their social and emotional skills, encouraging positive behaviour and interactions.
* Monitor and track individual student progress, offering feedback to the class teacher and adjusting support as needed.
* Help plan and prepare resources to enhance learning experiences for students.
* Support students with additional needs, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they are fully included in classroom activities.
* Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as breaks and lunch, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
* Foster a positive and motivating classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and independent learning.
* Support the class teacher with general classroom management and administrative tasks as required.
* Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents, promoting a collaborative approach to education.
Requirements:
* HLTA qualification (or equivalent) or substantial experience in a similar role within a primary school.
* A strong understanding of the primary school curriculum.
* Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs, including SEN, is preferred.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
* Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting children’s development.
* Enhanced DBS check (Protocol Education will assist with this if necessary).
* A genuine passion for working with children and helping them achieve their full potential.
