Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Critical Care dietetic team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in the role of Principal Critical Care Dietitian on a full time permanent basis. To independently co-ordinate and take responsibility for delivering a highly specialised dietetic service to all adult patients admitted to the Intensive Care unit (ICU) on the St Thomas' site. To provide expert advice to respiratory patients across Guys and St Thomas including the HDU's, Lane Fox Unit and Guys critical care unit. Use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide highly specialist support and advice to dietetic and other clinical staff within and outside the organisation whilst maintaining a caseload of highly complex patients as an autonomous practitioner. To use expert knowledge and extensive clinical experience to lead on the development and strategic planning of the dietetic critical care service across the whole organisation utilising the principles of clinical governance. Identifies audit, service evaluation priorities within area of expertise to drive clinical development strategy. To be responsible for planning and delivering specialist training to medical staff, nurses, students and other health care professionals within the field of critical care. About us The successful candidate will lead a critical care dietetic team and receive line management support from the Clinical and Operational Lead Dietitian of St Thomas' Hospital. In addition to this Band 8A Principal Dietitian post, the team include 5 dietitians (3 x band 7's, 2 x band 6) and an advanced dietetic assistant (1 x band 4). The team are highly regarded members of the critical care multi-disciplinary team.The department of Nutrition and Dietetics is made up of an Adult and Paediatric Nutrition workforce of over 100 staff, generating an income of over 10m. This is a highly complex service, delivering highly specialised Dietetics as part of clinical services across the Trust, and into the Community, including providing professional guidance for our catering services and ensuring our compliance with Nutrition Standards for the Trust.
