The Role
Deal Advisory Tax provides market-leading services to both Financial and Corporate investors. Our teams focus on clients in three performance groups: Financial Services, Corporates, and National Markets. We are a national, connected team that collaborates and learns together.
* Financial Services: We work with private equity, infrastructure, and real estate funds, as well as institutional investors like sovereign wealth funds and pension funds. Our clients have UK, European, and Global investment strategies.
* Corporates: We collaborate with FTSE 100 and 250 companies, supporting strategic acquisitions, carve-outs, de-mergers, disposals, and joint ventures in the UK and internationally.
* National Markets: We serve mid-market UK corporates and PE funds investing across key sectors to grow local economies.
The Deal Advisory Tax team offers services across the deal spectrum, including buy-side due diligence, structuring, sell-side vendor assistance, refinancing, and listings. Deal sizes range from £10m to over £10bn. We help clients understand tax issues, structure transactions, and maximize value throughout the investment cycle, often involving multiple countries and tax streams.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with Partners and Directors on complex transactions to deliver excellent advice and service.
* Support in pursuing new opportunities, preparing proposals, and participating in pitches.
* Develop and maintain client relationships alongside Deal Advisory.
* Serve as a primary KPMG contact for clients, legal advisors, and other KPMG teams to ensure effective delivery.
* Coach and develop colleagues, collaborate with peers, and pursue continuous learning.
* Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on UK and international tax issues.
* Analyze tax-related documents/data, identify key issues, and communicate their commercial impact.
* Work with UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing their input.
* Stay updated on UK and OECD tax developments.
* Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
* Contribute to Deal Advisory Tax thought leadership.
The Person
* Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent.
* Ambitious, enthusiastic, and interested in transactions.
* Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
* Solid UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
* Analytical, curious, and commercially minded.
* Excellent project management skills, team player, and proactive.
* Ability to build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships.
* Leadership and coaching skills.
* Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
