About The Role
Sustainable Used Materials Services (SUMS) Quality Specialist will help us make our service more sustainable and dependable through developing and implementing quality processes for new repairable parts and monitoring the quality of parts used in the field and repaired by third parties.
The role involves ensuring compliance with Smiths Detection standards and customer requirements, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
This can be based from either Wiesbaden, Germany or Hemel Hempstead, UK.
Specific Duties, Activities And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
* Develop quality plans and procedures for new repairable parts, including inspection criteria, testing methods, and acceptance criteria.
* Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and service teams to ensure quality requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
* Perform quality audits and inspections on returned or repaired parts and generate quality reports and metrics.
* Investigate and resolve quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints related to repairable parts.
* Identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Monitor and evaluate the performance and reliability of repairable parts and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement.
* Maintain quality records and documentation and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices for repairable parts quality.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
* Experience in quality assurance, quality control, or quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace, defense, or security industry.
* Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, Lean, 8D, FMEA, SPC, etc.
* Experience with repairable parts, refurbishment, or remanufacturing processes.
Knowledge/Skills / Competencies:
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manuals.
* Proficient in using various measuring and testing equipment and instruments.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
