About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and organised Materials Controller / Admin to join our small manufacturing business. This role involves hands-on tasks like goods-in and goods-out management and office-based admin tasks. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in both office and shop-floor settings and able to support the team with flexibility and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Control Duties:
1. Organisation of the stores areas and stock control.
2. Receive incoming goods from the Goods-in entrance (including answering the Goods-in door).
3. FLT driving to load/unload deliveries and move materials on the shop floor.
4. Process incoming delivery notes, allocate GRNs and update stocks.
5. Checking / inspecting incoming & outgoing goods to specification (e.g. Extrusion Temper and size).
6. Assist with packing parts ready for despatch and packaging planning when required.
7. Quality support where required.
8. Answer phone calls and support general administrative needs.
9. Assistance with opening post.
10. Raise purchase orders & track progress when required.
11. Handle customer progress-chasing inquiries by coordinating with the necessary colleagues.
12. Assist with customer and supplier requests regarding material stocks etc.
13. Organise deliveries and collections with sub-contract transport and organise postage for any packages.
14. Raise Midland Alloy delivery notes.
15. Matching supplier delivery notes against purchase orders and invoices.
16. Assistance with ordering maintenance services for plant and equipment.
17. Respond to internal requests, support project work, and assist other departments as needed.
About You:
1. Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
2. Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one) is preferred.
3. Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and ability to multitask.
4. Use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Knowledge of basic health and safety procedures in a shop floor environment.
