To participate in team nursing and when appropriate, organise the patients care for that team in the team leaders absence. Report to medical staff on the condition of patients, receive medical instructions and implement as necessary. Ensure that every precaution is taken to safeguard patients property and valuables. Participate in multi-disciplinary approach to the rehabilitation of patients with neurological disorders. Participate in the training of other nursing staff, including basic and post basic learners in consultation with Sister/Charge Nurse wherever applicable. Control and co-ordinate activities of the ward team in the absence of Ward Sister/Charge Nurse. Be aware of, and adhere to, all the Trust policies and procedures and standards of care. Maintain high standards of nursing care and review these standards with the Ward Manager. Participate as a named nurse for a small group of patients. Assist subordinate staff to understand their role in the unit team. Be aware of the economic use of ward equipment and stores. Ensure adequate security, administration, proper use and recording of dangerous drugs in accordance with hospital policy. Ensure up to date knowledge of new equipment being used. Furthering own professional development by ensuring that own clinical and professional knowledge is widened and enriched by attending study days and seminars as arranged through the in-service training officers. Ensure confidentiality at all times. The post holders attention is drawn to the Data Protection Act 1984. Ensure that the Control of Infection Guidelines are adhered to at all times.
