Role: Professional

The Role
Working as part of a busy press office team, you will help drive coverage of our work across print, online, and broadcast media. Law touches every aspect of life, and solicitors are fundamental in helping steer us through some of the crunch moments.
You will be handling media enquiries, briefing journalists, and creating content. You will liaise across the business, largely with policy, public affairs, and campaigns teams to ensure messages resonate with the audience and convey Law Society policy and campaign messages to national and regional press.
You must be able to develop the key requirements of good press work - managing press enquiries effectively to protect and build the reputation of the profession and the Society. Supporting the team's reporting requirements and our social media presence are also part of this role.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in the law in England and Wales and legal rights across the UK and who wants a career in media relations.
What we're looking for
1. You will have a keen interest in media and public relations.
2. You will have good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write engaging material, often about complex issues for both lawyers and consumers, with accuracy and attention to detail.
3. You will be able to use initiative and to suggest creative or new ideas that have been well considered.
4. You will be proactive and able to adopt a multi-communication channel approach.
What's in it for you
This is an excellent opportunity to work with contemporary thinkers in a progressive membership organisation. The successful candidate will join a strong brand with a reputation for excellence and legal expertise, committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, and a culture of trust, clarity, excellence, and respect.
We offer hybrid working, a generous flexible benefits package, a friendly working environment, and the opportunity to develop your career within a professional organisation.
Please note: if you are an internal applicant, Pay Policy will apply.
The Law Society represents solicitors in England and Wales. From negotiating with and lobbying the profession's regulators, government and other decision makers, to offering training and advice, we're here to help, protect, and promote solicitors.
