Job Summary
Rethink Mental Illness works alongside Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) and Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust to deliver an integrated stepped care mental health service within HMP Full Sutton.
The team comprises a range of highly skilled professionals who work collaboratively to provide the highest quality of care for those with mental health needs within the prison and for Rethink Mental Illness employees. This is carried out between 0800 and 1600, Monday to Friday.
Main Duties of the Job
I work as part of an integrated care mental health team delivering Step 1 interventions, working alongside other professionals to support the mental health of the prison population. I support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery, building a professional relationship of trust in a non-judgmental manner with every client as a basis for developing and enabling therapeutic relationships. This ranges from providing informal information, support, and signposting, facilitating group activities and forums, to developing and training Peer Mentors and delivering service user engagement activities. I work alongside the other staff in the mental health team to deliver high-quality mental health support during an individual's time in prison and in onward planning for their release into the community.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
Experience Essential
* Experience of working with people with mental health needs both 1-1 and in groups in a coaching and goal-setting way.
* Experience of developing and coordinating projects and activities.
* Excellent group facilitation skills, active listening, and building rapport.
* Completed training or qualification relevant to the post, e.g., Train the Trainer, recovery training, Peer Support Worker, or Coaching.
* Working knowledge and understanding of mental health and ability to recognize the indicators of deteriorating mental health.

* Experience of working in a recovery-focused manner and delivering recovery education.
* Ability to support, coach, and encourage people to influence, speak out, and lead within their own communities including those from marginalized communities.

* Health education qualification such as approved Mental Health First Aid Practitioner.
