Job Description
What will you be doing?
As a FPGA specialist, you will join our team in Birmingham to support our activities within the aerospace sector to work on exciting engine control systems projects. You will be part of a dynamic team, contributing to the design and manufacture of high-performance systems that enhance the fuel efficiency and overall performance of next-generation jet engines. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your FPGA expertise in a challenging and high-impact environment at the forefront of aviation technology.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Lead the development and optimisation of FPGA-based solutions for engine control systems, including electronic engine controllers, fuel pumps, and fuel metering units.
* Work on complex aerospace projects, delivering high-quality designs that meet stringent performance, safety, and reliability standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of FPGA hardware with embedded software systems.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of fuel efficiency and performance of modern jet engines through innovative FPGA design.
* Manage project timelines, deliverables, and technical documentation, ensuring alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support in troubleshooting and resolving design challenges.

Qualifications
Experience, skills and qualifications required:
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
* Strong expertise in FPGA design, particularly with VHDL and Verilog.
* Proven experience in aerospace or related high-performance sectors, particularly working on engine control systems.
* Experience with tools such as Xilinx, Altera, or other FPGA development platforms.
* Familiarity with hardware/software integration and embedded systems.
* Ability to work under pressure in a client-facing environment, ensuring successful delivery of projects within strict deadlines.
