Responsible for the coordination of the pathology transcription office and secretarial duties for the pathologists.
Responsibilities
1. Schedule, direct, and assign employees’ work activities in department. Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
2. Establish procedures to ensure efficient workflow, processing, and maintain professional standards which ensure proficiency, technical expertise, and accuracy.
3. Perform supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, interviewing, conducting performance evaluations, providing disciplinary action, and recommending salary increases.
4. Should be able to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and other hospitals and reference laboratories.
5. Assemble statistical data such as workload recording. Prepare reports/summaries, establish and maintain appropriate files.
6. Should be able to work with LIS in pathology.
7. Able to perform transcription of surgical pathology reports as needed.
8. Perform a variety of typing and clerical duties as necessary.
9. Send out slides and reports to various outside locations upon request.
10. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications
Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one year job-related experience or equivalent is required.
