The Role
To have continuing responsibility for a defined caseload and provide direct clinical care to patients and support to families with highly complex needs where there is a diagnosis of cancer or other life limiting condition.
To provide clinical expertise in symptom management and specialist palliative care, support and counselling to patients who are suffering from cancer and their families.
To act as a specialist palliative care educational resource to all members of the multi-disciplinary team in a defined locality, contributing and collaborating in the delivery of evidence based care.
To enhance the provision and development of palliative/cancer services within NHS Lanarkshire and across all health care settings in the attainment of the highest standards of clinical care.
To provide bereavement support for carers and specialist advice to other professionals and agencies on bereavement related issues.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration.
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level.
* Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
It would be great if you also have
* Specialist post-graduate /post registration qualification in palliative care or oncology (or clinical experience and ability to evidence competencies across all 4 pillars of practice).
* Clinical assessment and decision making qualification.
* Independent prescriber (V300).
* Previous experience of working within the specialty.
* Knowledge of current NHS policies, best practice and relevant research.
* Specialist symptom control knowledge and experience.
* Clear understanding of organisational goals.
* Theoretical knowledge of audit and its importance in developing clinical practice.
