Assistant Project Manager

A privately owned Main Contractor based in Bromsgrove that undertakes works across the industrial, commercial, and education sectors. Due to continued growth, they are actively recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to join a close-knit team, who can share in their exciting future. The Role
A good understanding of Microsoft Project programming software and all other standard Office software is required. Many projects involve work within, or in the vicinity of, live environments, so similar experience is essential.
You will support a team of experienced Project Managers, shadowing on their various projects to develop your skills further and will be required to travel to site 2-3 days per week; you must be flexible to do so. As your experience gains, you will start to lead small projects (as the lead Project Manager) with the full team supporting you every step of the way. The position is head office based, but the ability to travel and undertake site visits is essential.
Key Duties
* Providing support and, as you progress, taking ownership of multiple projects, delivery teams, and managing risk to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
* Overseeing site-based Site Managers and dealing with day-to-day issues.
* Coordinating and monitoring subcontractors and suppliers.
* Compiling and updating a CPHSP in conjunction with H&S Advisor.
* Compiling contract Variations with the Quantity Surveyors.
* Material take-offs & procurement.
* Undertaking site surveys.
* Chairing Project & Design team meetings, providing written minutes & action tracking.
* Reviewing and approving subcontractor RAMS.
* Regular site visits to check on progress and quality of work (QA).
* Developing tender programmes through to Construction phase level, recording progress and delays.
* Reviewing design information, compiling and tracking of RFI's.
* Assessing design details, highlighting potential issues, and pro-actively seeking guidance to ensure problems are overcome swiftly and agreeably.
* Participating in weekly reviews of progress, budget, and resourcing.
* Compiling Contractor's Reports and attending Site Progress Meetings.
* General administrative duties.
