Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in housing and homelessness services? ASA is seeking a dedicated Housing Options Officer to join our public sector client on a temporary contract, delivering impactful housing solutions and support to individuals and families.
About the Role
As a Housing Options Officer, you will play a vital role in preventing homelessness and enabling individuals to secure sustainable housing. Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing tailored advice and support to tenants to maximise tenancy sustainment and reduce homelessness risk.
2. Assessing and processing homelessness applications in accordance with legislation, Council policy, and the Code of Guidance.
3. Coordinating temporary accommodation referrals and creating support plans in partnership with internal teams and external agencies to address complex needs.
4. Assisting with housing allocations, including Choice-Based Letting and Mutual Exchanges, while advising prospective tenants.
5. Engaging with stakeholders such as third-sector organisations and local authorities to share best practices and enhance service delivery.
6. Representing the Council at case conferences with agencies including NHS Scotland, Police Scotland, and Women's Aid.
What You'll Bring
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing services.
2. Proven experience in case management, including writing case notes and delivering housing-related support.
3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
5. A collaborative mindset, fostering effective teamwork with colleagues and external partners.
Desirable Skills:
1. HNC in Housing Studies or a related field.
2. Familiarity with housing systems such as OHMS, NPS Housing, or AVD.
3. Experience in Local Authority Housing Services or supported accommodation settings.
Additional Information
1. Location: Flexible working across Scotland.
2. Contract Duration: 2 months, with the possibility of extension.
3. Requirements: A full, clean driving licence.
