The Learning Support team are a well-established and integral part of the learning experience at Greenshaw High School. Our LSAs play an active role in supporting teaching staff to deliver their curriculum so that all students can access the teaching and learning in the classroom.
This position is working across Year 8
* The main duties and responsibilities will include:
* Supervising and supporting students, ensuring their safety and access to learning;
* Establishing good relationships with students, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs;
* Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students;
* Understanding and having the ability to counteract any barriers to students’ learning, whether it be due to a diagnosed difficulty such as a Speech and Language impairment, physical impairment, ASD or ADHD, or because the students require learning to be differentiated for them;
* Encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher;
* Encouraging students to act independently, as appropriate;
* Supporting students to understand instructions;
* Supporting students in respect of local and national learning strategies e.g. literacy, numeracy, as directed by the teacher;
* Preparing for lessons, as directed by the teacher;
* Being aware of student problems/progress/achievement and reporting to the teacher, as agreed;
* Undertaking student record-keeping, as requested;
* Supporting the teacher in managing student behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate;
* Gathering and reporting information to teachers;
* Assisting with admin support e.g. collecting and distributing resources etc;
* Being responsible for keeping up to date with the requirements of the role, by attending appropriate INSET and meetings, participating in training and other learning activities and keeping abreast of changes in legislation; Being aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, equal opportunities and race equality, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person;
* Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the post as may be required by the Deputy Director of Inclusion or Headteacher
The Learning Support Assistant will be accountable to the Inclusion Coordinator

The, in consultation with the post holder, may be changed by the Headteacher to reflect or anticipate changes in the job commensurate with the grade and job title.
