Job summary
Nayland Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, to play a full & active role within the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for a minimum of 30 hours per week, days & times to be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
1. Process all relevant prescriptions & repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs & prescribing nurses, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
2. Ensure that all medicines & appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription & when there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, the dose or labelling instructions, check with the authorising or duty doctor or duty;
3. Collect all due prescription charges & ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in & signed by the patient;
4. Process hospital letters;
5. Process dossett boxes;
6. Manage ordering stock & stock control;
7. Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau;
8. Answer & deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
9. Monitor patients exemption status;
10. Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
11. Any other duties to assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary & surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

12. You will have at least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification.
Experience
Essential
13. At least 2 years dispensary and pharmacy experience;
14. Excellent clinical and medication knowledge;
15. Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting;
16. The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career;
17. The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making;
18. The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach;
19. Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
