As our new Internal Controller, you will become the expert on the use, maintenance, and reporting of the internal controls system. Functionally ensuring the control system is operating and producing valid data, aligned to the organisational structure; monitoring its use by control operators and assurance/validation teams; producing reports from the system and working with the Senior Internal Control Manager to follow up on control issues.
Initially, this role will form part of a formal project group responsible for mapping and assessing internal controls, but once established, the role holder will become responsible for monitoring, reporting, and advising on the internal control environment. Therefore, the controller should be literate in the language of internal control and able to work across a range of business areas recording controls. A clear understanding of internal control standards is essential, as is the ability to focus on controls and be ruthlessly efficient in records, assessing design, and uploading controls. The controller will agree upon documentation standards and ensure these are rolled out to the business.
Working with the Senior Internal Control Manager and others, the controller will map the key control environment of the business and work with business units to agree upon relevant areas of enhanced control.
Experience in training would be a significant advantage as the controller will work with the Senior Internal Control Manager to ensure the control standards and the use of the tool is rolled out to the relevant control operators, owners, and reviewers.
