To provide comprehensive clerical support to a busy neurosurgical oncology ward in performing the role of ward clerk. Work closely with ward staff, nurse in charge, allied healthcare professionals, medical colleagues, clinical coding, and neurosurgical matron, To greet and guide patients and visitors inclusive of relatives and visitors to the ward area.
Within ward clerk duties you would be expected to prepare, and locate case notes for ward admissions and be responsible for filing inpatient notes and correspondence. To liaise with community teams to arrange clinic appointments, and assist in sending appropriate referrals. You will be required to utilise the PAS system to input data of all admissions, transfers and discharges. Respond to calls via telephone, to assist with preparation of admin for emergencyadmissions., 1. Retrieval and preparation of case notes for ward admissions 2. Organisation and prioritisation 3. Process all admissions, discharges, and transfers on the PAS (Bed Management) system in real time. 4. Access a variety of electronic systems to trace patient demographic details, investigations and NHS numbers 5. Liaise with other clerks across the Trust on a daily basis to ensure all administrative processes are in place and up-to-date to deal with daily demand. 6. On discharge, file all investigations and inpatient documentation in the case notes in accordance with trust policy. Deliver case notes to Clinical Coding. 7. Liaise with coding in relation to inpatient documentation. 8. Ensure any documentation, not belonging to WCFT is returned as necessary. 9. Provide comprehensive clerical support to the ward, ensuring all case notes are available. To include preparation of trolley for ward round. 10. Book porters jobs with the ISS help desk to include collection and movement of patients
and specimens along with oxygen required for the wards 11. Ordering equipment and maintain stationary stock for the ward 12. General admin duties. Sort and distribute incoming mail. 13. Collate and organise all inpatient documentation 14. Process enquiries for information/case notes using the PAS system, ensuring confidentiality, Caldicott and data protection guidelines are followed. Assist patients with the completion of health insurance forms and any other queries.
