If you are a podiatrist with a passion for improving the care of people with diabetes and educating others to do the same, then this innovative post might be the challenge you have been looking for! The CLCH Diabetes Podiatrist works as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team consisting of diabetes specialist nurses, dietitians, podiatrists, support workers, admin support, a diabetologist, and Community Nursing Teams. The purpose of the team is to promote care closer to home, facilitating a seamless service between acute and primary care, avoiding acute hospital admissions and accelerating safe discharge.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a clinical specialist for podiatric diabetes and tissue viability. You will lead on and educate your colleagues and junior staff regarding diabetes and tissue viability and be the main contact for this area within your team.
You will provide highly specialised advice to others across professions within our local acute hospital sites and CLCH Community clinics, working in multidisciplinary team environments contributing to NICE Guidance 19, screening patients for vascular/neurological dysfunction within all clinical care settings, and providing educational opportunities to both podiatry and other health and social care staff and patients alike to promote an understanding of diabetes and the importance of foot care for people affected or at risk from this disease.
You will be required to work with both acute care services, which include Vascular, Renal, and Orthotics, as well as other Community care providers and Primary Care Networks to ensure seamless care of high quality is delivered.

* BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior to 1991)
* Evidence of continual professional and personal development
