Sports Regulation Lawyer

This global law firm has lawyers located in more than 40 countries, with over 90 offices, throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. Clients range from multinational, Global 1000, and Fortune 500 enterprises, start-ups, public sector bodies and governments. The firm regularly help blue-chip sponsors and portfolios companies operating in the mid-market on acquisitions, sale processes and investment deals, both domestic and cross-border in nature.
The firm's sports lawyers are trusted legal and commercial advisors to many of the biggest names in sport. Clients include sports leagues, clubs, franchise owners, Olympic and world event organizers, international and national governing bodies, stadium developers, investors, banks and esports companies.
They advise on all aspects of staging major global sports events, from structuring commercial exploitation programs and protecting IP, through to stadium development, and sports regulatory and administrative issues at the highest level. The firm's lawyers have a particular expertise on local and international sports media rights, as well as commercial partnerships rights, sponsorship, licensing and IP.
The team are now looking to recruit a senior Sports Regulatory solicitor into their practice in London.
The team advise on a wide range of sports regulatory matters including issues such as selection, eligibility, disciplinary, doping and corruption sanctions, commercial disputes and employment matters.
As part of the role, responsibilities may include:
* Drafting regulations regarding membership, play, conduct and discipline
* Reviewing and revising existing regulations including anti-doping and disciplinary regulations
* Advising governing bodies on proposed sanctions to be brought against individuals
* Advising sportspersons on non-selection and qualification issues
* Defending individual sportspersons against disciplinary, doping and anti-corruption charges
* Advising brands in relation to the limitations on the activation of sponsorship rights imposed by local and national advertising laws and regulations.
* Mentoring and training more junior members of the team.
The successful candidate will be a senior lawyer or partner with a portable client following. You will have gained extensive experience in sports regulatory matters from a highly regarded legal sports practice in London.
