The Learning Centre (Murray Centre) is the central hub of the school campus and is a vibrant collaborative facility for our pupils, staff, and visitors. It is home to a range of excellent state-of-the-art facilities which include seminar rooms, a coffee shop, an auditorium, and a spacious and well-resourced library with full IT connectivity.
Working as part of a team, the Learning Centre Manager will manage the library, online learning resources, and the Murray Centre facilities to provide an engaging educational environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
To be successful in the role, you will need an enthusiastic and creative approach, be a strong communicator, and have relevant experience in a library/learning resource/arts setting. You should be calm under pressure, a natural multitasker with energy and resilience, and the ability to build positive relationships and guide young people. This role would suit a qualified teacher looking to transition away from classroom teaching.
Maximizing the effective use of technology is vital in the Centre, so you will also need to be confident and competent with IT and social media, with a forward-thinking approach.
The Centre is staffed from 08:00 - 22:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 to 21:00 on Sunday as part of the team rota. Hours will be on a shift rota basis covering 40 hours per week over 5 out of 7 days.
We recognize that our staff are key to our success, and we offer a supportive working environment, with competitive terms and conditions and a wide range of opportunities for continuous professional development. We provide an excellent induction program for all new staff as well as a Pension Scheme, free parking, meals on duty, and excellent working conditions.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and any offer of employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check (DBS), satisfactory references, and social media checks.
At Downe House, we promote equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff, both current and prospective, and we actively support an environment and culture that values diversity and inclusion.
