To develop and draft concept drawings for a 21st century, two-storey extension that respects the 550-year old village, Wealden Hall house to which it will be attached.
The design project is to add a two-storey extension of around 800 sq ft to a Grade 2 Wealden Hall House in a Conservation Area which was built between 1450 and 1475.
The house already had an extension built in 1940 which is out of proportion to the original house. The second extension would be added to the gable end of the 1940 construction but visually reducing the visual impact in a style yet to be determined.
The style of the proposed works must respect the original house design but also reflect that we are in the 21st century. The local Council’s Conservation Officer has been sympathetic to a draft concept that features a catslide roof with a turret to give headroom to the first floor. However, I am open to a different creative design approach.
Photos of the house and existing extension are available upon email request.

Creative skills combined with the ability to produce a compatible, original design. Detailed concept drawings are a prerequisite, but planning and building regulations drawings, whilst optional, would be preferred.
