AKW GL are looking to recruit a Management Accountant to join their team at their site in Manchester. The Management Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and production of the business management accounts and to assist with the general development and growth of the department.

About the job:
* Develop, prepare and produce management accounts which are accurate and fit for purpose.
* Continually review, and implement improved financial control procedures, systems and processes within the Accounts Department to ensure an effective and efficient service is being delivered.
* Preparation and posting of journals across all nominal ledger areas.
* Provide timely and accurate information/reports to enable the Senior Management Team and departments to make informed strategic and operational decisions, highlighting any areas of concern.
* Assist in the annual statutory audit to certify that all processes, procedures and legislative requirements are being adhered to.
* Assist with formulating and reporting budgets and forecasts to meet both business and group financial and strategic targets.
* Lead on the completion of all year-end procedures in accordance with legislative requirements and group processes.
* Provide advice and analysis on operational efficiencies, potential projects and new contracts to ensure they are cost-effective and within budget.
* Produce statutory financial returns (VAT, PAYE, National Statistics Office etc.) which are accurate and within agreed timescales.
Your knowledge and experience:
* Full or part qualified accountant.
* Both working and technical knowledge of accountancy and payroll systems, preferably Sage 200.
* Experience in preparing and producing management accounts.
* Experience in supporting a management team with financial advice and strategic planning.
* Experience in preparing for and complying with statutory audits.
* Experience in supporting the formulation of budgets and forecasts.
