Wage
£16,500 a year
Year 2 - apprentice salary will be £18,600 Year 3 - apprentice salary will be £20,700 Once qualified as an Electrical/Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator the candidate will be offered a permanent role paid in line with company's salary scale banding.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you’ll do at work
The successful applicant will undertake a Level 3 Fitter Apprenticeship including the Level 4 HNC qualification which will start during year 2 of the apprenticeship.
As an Apprentice you will rotate through each of the engineering departments within the business providing you with significant opportunities to expand operational and technical skills and knowledge.
V A Technology design, manufacture, install and service technologically advanced systems and equipment for the investment casting industry and its here where you will be earning a good salary, developing new skills, knowledge and experiences.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will be responsible for the quality and accuracy of the work you undertake and be able to demonstrate at the end of the apprenticeship every aspect of engineering involving mechanical, electrical, electronic, electromechanical and fluid power components/ systems within a technical support pathway up to Level 4 HNC.
Job role will include:
* Reading mechanical and electrical drawings
* Using and communicating technical information
* Building systems and equipment
* Testing and validation of systems and equipment
* Supporting in the development of Robot and PLC software
* Using computer software packages to assist with engineering activities
* Fault finding and diagnostics of mechanical and electrical equipment
* Preparing and fabrication of metal components for machine assembly
* Operating machinery such as press brakes, saw, drills and welding
* Using hand tools such as drilling, grinding and finishing
* Supporting construction of control panels and equipment
* Be familiar with Risk Assessment and typical Health and Safety issues in the workplace
* Operate within company procedures and policies
* Ensuring quality standards are met
* Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment
* Driving license needed to visit various engineering sites

* Measuring and testing, checking or inspecting component or assembly for example; use of micrometers, verniers, multimeters, voltmeter.

Your training plan
* The successful candidate will be required to attend In-Comm Training Services in Telford, 5 days a week for the first 10 months of their Apprenticeship
* This is a Level 3 Engineering Manufacturing Support qualification
* During this time you will also be learning and understanding the importance of Health and Safety within the workplace where you will gain qualifications in IOSH working safely, manual handling and abrasive wheels
* During the practical training at In-Comm you will become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of hand tools and associated workshop machine tools, learn to understand and interpret engineering drawings
* You will demonstrate skills and processes as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team
* Once the full time programme is completed you will start work based learning activities where you will maintain an electronic logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects and documenting work that has been undertaken and the skills learned
* You have an assessor who will complete workplace assessment visits and observations
