On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Senior Human Factors Specialist Inside IR35 for a 12 months contract based Hybrid 2-3 days in Salisbury.
The Human Factors Specialist will work with the Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Team and other colleagues across the organisation in helping to implement a Human Factors Strategy aligned with HSE’s Human Factors Delivery Guide.
The role is aimed at managing Human Factors health, safety and environmental protection risks, particularly in relation to work undertaken on high hazard activities that have the potential to result in major accidents in areas of work with biological agents, very toxic chemicals, energetic materials (e.g. explosives), indoor and outdoor trials and maintenance of critical facilities.
To do this we have an annual budget of almost £40 billion and a workforce comprising 193,000 people, almost 59,000 of whom are civilians. We currently manage more than £11 billion of spend every year.
As a Senior Human Factors Specialist, your main responsibilities will be:
1. Lead the integration of risk management to incorporate Human Factors issues, by:
* Development of Human Factors policy, procedures and guidance.
* Human Factors risk assessments (Safety Critical Task Analysis) for activities that could result in major accidents.
* Research and policy initiatives which involve Human Factors.
* Undertake Human Factors training and awareness raising activities, including the development, production, design and delivery of new Human Factors training courses and materials and providing support to trainee Human Factors specialist(s).
* Support investigation of incidents, dangerous occurrences and near miss investigations.
1. To develop and maintain links with Human Factor professionals in other organisations and relevant professional bodies (e.g. CIEHF).
2. Carrying out any other tasks and duties as may reasonably be required by the Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Team.
Minimum Requirements:
* Chartered Member of Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
* Experience in Safety Critical Task Analysis in high hazard facilities.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Practical experience and understanding of managing risks in high hazard environments.
* Experience of working on a site regulated under Control of major accident hazard regulations (or equivalent e.g. MACR).
* Experience of working in other high hazard industrial or research industries.
* Awareness of the impact of human factors with regard to environmental protection.
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
