PHPRU Woodlands Centre is a small specialist school for children who are 5 to 11 years old. We have up to 16 children. All children have profound social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Many children have communication and interaction needs as well.
Children learn and gain skills to enable them to reach their full potential, this includes English and Maths. However, our curriculum also has a strong emphasis on developing emotional regulation and the skills to engage with learning in a nurturing environment. We provide:
* A specialist curriculum to meet children’s SEMH
* Specialist interventions outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
* A high level of adult support
The Management Committee of PHPRU are seeking to appoint additional Teaching Assistants to join the existing team as soon as possible. They will be committed to, and enthusiastic about, early intervention and maximising individual potential. This post involves working alongside a range of professionals and families and therefore, requires someone with an outgoing personality, a positive outlook on life and a willingness to undertake a range of tasks.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with Reception, KS1 and KS2 children with SEMH and Autism (ASD).
We are looking for someone:
* With experience of working with children with SEMH and ASD
* To help deliver an appropriate and outstanding curriculum
* To support young children aged 5-11 years old to the end of KS2, who have severe SEMH and ASD both with class based activities and over lunchtime
* To support the development of the Woodlands Centre provision with particular reference to young children with SEMH & ASD
* To promote and support the achievement of all children through work with officers, agencies, schools, families and children where SEMH and ASD are a factor
* To support assessment within the provision
* To participate as a team member in the operation, promotion, evaluation and development of the Woodlands Centre and to work collaboratively
* To be an outstanding practitioner who provides stimulating learning opportunities and enjoys working with young children
We will offer:
* A unique opportunity to develop your skills and work to ensure all young children with SEMH/ASD access appropriate education
* Experience which will extensively enhance your professional development
* A dedicated team of staff with experienced and supportive management who recognise and promote a positive work/life balance
* A high quality working environment with a calm, welcoming ethos
* An additional wellbeing day
