Linux Engineer

We are heading up a recruitment drive for a global consultancy that require a Linux Engineer (SC Cleared) to join them on a major project that's based in Barrow.
Role Description:
* Suitable Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) version 9 and secure network architecture and software development environments. Expertise for implementing LDAP, SELinux, Splunk, RDP or VNC, Eclipse C++ Development IDE & plugins, anti-malware tools, configuring switch/Firewall/NAS and other network devices, setup of RHEL subscription and update services, all within a secure NIST based framework.
* Security requirements for the supplier are covered in section 4.
* The task package requires the derivation of detailed use cases and design from the high level use cases/requirements and design, and implementation and test of the local development environment including integration with the corporate restricted network, interface and services, along with local network maintenance instructions. Documentary output deliverables will be required to complete these tasks.
* The Activities and Deliveries section 3 will detail responsibilities of the supplier.
* The Engineering Manager (Andrew Thompson) will act as hiring manager and has authority to issue the key tasking packages and approve milestone completion. The deliverable outputs for each milestone are identified in Section 3. Progress will be tracked through weekly meetings, and monthly summary reports are to be provided containing details of progress made towards each deliverable, any blockers/dependencies not delivered, and any delays incurred to be reported and agreed.
* Work will be carried out predominantly on-site with option for home working on documentation-only tasks at the discretion of the Engineering Manager.
* The Navigation Team Network Administrator (Andrew Pollock) will support the supplier as and when needed, and shall be kept well informed of decisions and progress to facilitate handover when the work package is complete.
* The supplier will also be expected to liaise with Information Management & Technology (IM&T) team and outsourced IT (CAPgemini) team for integration of the new development network with the BAE Systems restricted network and services. All stakeholders will need to collaborate to understand what and how to configure network services in their scope of control in order to integrate with each other and achieve the desired end solution. The supplier's scope of control is the local development Linux (RHEL) network, and CAPgemini are responsible for the restricted corporate network and Firewall.
