WHAT TO EXPECT
The Finance department offers a unique and challenging experience with business-wide exposure and development opportunities. Success relies on managing internal customer expectations and delivering results using resources efficiently across multiple priorities.
The Cost Engineering function, part of the Finance department, ensures the proper use of JLR funds related to the supply chain, aligned with product goals to achieve profitable growth. This involves partnering with operational functions such as Purchasing, Product Engineering, Advanced Product Creation, and other Finance teams. As a Senior Cost Engineer, you will work within a dynamic team focused on specific vehicle commodities associated with these groups.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
* Deliver detailed and directional Should Costs (estimates) and lead initiatives to identify cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain.
* Drive commercial negotiations to close cost gaps.
* Participate actively as a member of the Matched Trio (Cost Engineer, Buyer, and Engineer) in supplier selection and strategy planning.
* Advise Product Engineering on design and change cost impacts.
* Provide expert guidance to Advanced Product Creation (APC) initiatives and serve as a role model to inspire excellence in professional and technical skills.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
* Knowledge of Electrification commodities: key cost drivers, raw materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Strong business and financial acumen, with cost estimating skills, preferably related to Electrification Propulsion commodities.
* Determination and leadership to champion cost-saving initiatives and close cost gaps.
* Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholders.
