Description
We are currently working with one of the UK's leading multidisciplinary professional practices specialising in the built environment, as they look to add a Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to their division in Bedford.
The company is an employee-owned multi-disciplinary built environment practice integrating residential and commercial architecture, engineering, planning and surveying for all development needs.
Their strength lies in their expertise and knowledge gained over almost 60 years in built environment across
three offices in Bedford, Birmingham and London by their 80-strong team.
The core remit for this position encompasses:
1. Working on various residential and non-residential projects around the UK, from small private developers to national house builders and masterplanning schemes.
2. Preparation of Flood Risk Assessments to support Planning Applications
3. Preparation of Surface Water Drainage Strategies to support Planning Applications
4. Preparation of Foul Water Drainage Strategies to support Planning Applications
5. Liaising and communicating with the wider engineering team.
6. Liaison with clients and third party consultants/council officers attending meetings where required.
7. Using Microdrainage/Flow software to model drainage networks.
8. Input into draft site masterplans to ensure layouts accommodate drainage and Flood Risk requirements.
Person Specification:
9. Knowledge & Skills: Relevant degree level education desirable.
10. Exceptional presentation skills.
11. Strong knowledge of UK Drainage/Flood Risk Regulation/Best Practice.
12. Proficient with Microdrainage/Flow, Microstation/AudoCad, Microsoft Office (Word in particular).
13. High standard of written and spoken English.
Experience:
14. Proven experience with the preparation of drainage and flood risk strategies to support planning applications.
15. Experience of preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy documents.
16. Evidence of excellent communication skills, confident with client/third party interaction.
