Health and Safety Manager

About the Role:
Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team at their Bromsgrove site. In this standalone role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Health and Safety policies to ensure full compliance with UK regulations. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the wellbeing of employees while championing sustainable health and safety practices. Your expertise will directly impact the continued success of the organization's commitment to a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Inspections & Risk Assessments: Conduct regular site inspections and detailed risk assessments to identify hazards and mitigate potential risks to health and safety.
2. Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to UK health and safety legislation, internal policies, and industry standards, while promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
3. Health and Safety Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver engaging health and safety training programs to employees at all levels, fostering a proactive approach to safety awareness and compliance.
4. Accident & Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce risk and prevent recurrence.
5. Environmental Management: Oversee waste management processes, emissions control, and ensure compliance with relevant environmental permits and legislation.
6. Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of accidents, near misses, RIDDOR reports, and ensure timely documentation of safety audits and compliance reports.
7. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the company's health and safety performance, ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Skills & Qualifications:
1. Health and Safety Certification: NEBOSH or IOSH qualification is highly desirable, with a strong preference for candidates with a proven track record in health and safety management.
2. Relevant Experience: Significant health and safety experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with an in-depth understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations.
3. Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent ability to assess risk, analyze complex safety issues, and implement practical, effective solutions.
4. Independent & Influential: Able to work autonomously and influence all levels of the organization to foster a strong health and safety culture.
5. Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage, educate, and motivate staff through training and development initiatives.
6. Health and Safety Management Systems: Experience using health and safety management systems to track compliance, incidents, and improvements.
Performance Measures:
1. Safety Improvement: Reduction in accidents, near misses, and RIDDOR reports.
2. Regulatory Compliance: Full compliance with health and safety regulations, audit results, and timely reporting.
3. Environmental Impact: Improved environmental performance, including better waste management and emissions control.
