Job overview The London Academy of Excellence would like to appoint a new Mental Health Lead, a pivotal role in our school. LAET’s leaders are deeply committed to student wellbeing and pastoral care, recognising the impact this has on the excellent outcomes of our students. The successful candidate will work as part of a very well-resourced and experienced pastoral team. The Mental Health Lead will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (Deputy Headteacher) and safeguarding team which includes a Safeguarding Officer (SGO), and SEN Learning Support Assistant as Deputy DSLs. They will also work alongside our Heads of Year and Deputy Heads of Year and work closely with our counselling team to support the pastoral needs of students. This role is suited to applicants with a background in counselling and safeguarding who are looking to support our aspirational and impressive students to meet their academic potential, ideally with experience in youth mental health services. In fulfilling this role, the successful candidates will model the values of the school in being academically ambitious and committed to the wellbeing of young people in our unique environment as an academically selective 16-19 school. The role is advertised on a full-time 40 hours per week basis and is term-time plus three weeks. It is offered on a permanent basis.
