Head of Programmes, International Development Charity, Cambridgeshire
Wonderful opportunity exists at this Cambridgeshire based International Development charity for an experienced Head of Programmes / Senior Programme Manager to join their established team to take responsibility for overseeing the day to day activities of the Programme Managers and Officers. You will play a pivotal role to ensure quality standards within the charity’s programmes, providing effective support and encouragement to the team through leadership, good practice and policy development. Working with the Director of International Programmes you will lead the team, working to clear strategic objectives and plans and in sympathy with the Christian values on which the organisation is based.
It is envisaged the 60% of your time will be in Programme Management oversight, supporting the team and managing the portfolio of work in line with the strategy, delivering high quality, timely and cost effective projects looking at the delivery, monitoring, evaluation and assessment of projects including identifying those poorly performing or high risk projects that may require additional support. You will drive the development of a flexible MIS, identify systems to improve the department, monitor the overall financial position of the programmes and proactively identify potential media stories, case studies, etc from the field for fundraising and advocacy purposes. With regards to Programme development and funding you will work alongside the Head of Programme Funding and the Managers to find new avenues of support both at home and in Country, assist in the development of high quality funding applications, liaising with relevant teams and departments. As a senior member of the team you will also represent the organisation to a variety of groups, media and decision makers where appropriate.
As a professional you can demonstrate significant people management experience, designing, developing and implementing international development programmes, proven experience of financial management and experience of participatory monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment. The nature of the role requires the need for international travel for up to 8 weeks per year. It is essential that the successful candidate is sympathetic with Christian values though there is no GOR under the Equality Act 2010 for the postholder to be a practising Christian.
