This position requires a strategic leader who can oversee the implementation of project management methodologies, tools, and standards, while aligning them with the company's objectives and goals. The Head of the PMO will significantly contribute to the success and growth of WMFTS by ensuring that projects are managed efficiently and effectively. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, enhancing operational performance, and achieving strategic business objectives through robust project management practices. Typically, there are in excess of 40 new product development projects in flight across the WMFTS project portfolio, in addition to a number of projects associated with sustaining & updating existing products (Operational Engineering (OE) projects). The Head of the PMO would also be expected to have responsibility for the operational delivery of key projects/programmes, in addition to the leadership & strategic aspects of the position. WMFTS, projects vary in terms of complexity and strategic importance. However, each project plays an important part in ensuring WMFTS maintains its position as the World Leader in the various markets that the business serves. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to the PMO, developing and executing strategies to optimise project management practices. This will include the development and subsequent evolution of the 5-year outlook in terms of WMFTS product roadmap. Portfolio & Project Planning: Ensure the programme & project management team have carried out robust project & portfolio planning & have made it visible to all stakeholders to the appropriate level - this will include setting team goals and project objectives, defining roles and producing schedules and timelines for tasks in accordance with the needs of the business. Facilitation of Reviews: To facilitate the monthly NPI Portfolio Reviews for both development and concept research projects, ensuring that the project teams are suitably prepared with the necessary project reports available to present to the wider stakeholder community. Process Improvement: To manage, develop and inspire the PMO team to maintain, develop and enhance the processes and frameworks needed to support the NPI and OE operations. Mentoring: To help mentor and support others within the department, providing in depth knowledge and guidance to help them achieve their objectives. Project Oversight: Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while maintaining high-quality standards. Resource Management: Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, technology, and finances, to support project initiatives. Stakeholder Communication: Foster transparent and effective communication with stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize impact on project delivery. Performance Monitoring: Implement metrics and KPIs to track project performance and drive continuous improvement. Training and Development: Promote professional development and training for project/programme managers and team members to enhance their skills and capabilities. Skills/Experience: Extensive Experience: Proven track record in project management, with significant experience in leading a PMO. Strong Leadership: Exceptional leadership and team management skills. Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and align project management practices with organisational goals. Effective Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Certifications: Relevant certifications such as APM (Accredited Project Management) or PRINCE2 are desirable.
