About the role
The role is as an assurance expert helping to build our new assurance team, working in an open business culture of reflection and improvement, and at a business scale where you can have a real impact.
You’ll be reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit to plan and execute audits in line with the annual WPA Assurance Plan, as well as supporting wider risk and compliance assurance processes, monitoring business progress against identified audit issues, and reporting to Board advisory committees as required.
There will be opportunities to perform wider risk activities including supporting the Chief Risk Officer to maintain and enhance WPA’s risk management systems, providing business support to maintain effective internal controls, and supporting in risk and capital analysis and reporting.
You’ll be supported to achieve the Certified Internal Auditor accreditation with the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, if not already held.
The starting salary is £43,000 to £48,000 depending on experience, with the opportunity, dependent on performance, to progress into a manager role.
The role is full time (37 hours per week) and is based in our office on Blackbrook Business Park in Taunton, TA1 2PE. Suitable candidates must live within a commutable distance of our office in Taunton. The role is office-based, with some hybrid working opportunities on a non-contractual basis.
About you
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an energetic auditor with a curious and analytical mindset, an ability to understand new subject matter quickly, attention to detail, and an ability to engage successfully with different personalities.
You should be a qualified member of a professional accounting or auditing body with a minimum of 3 years audit experience, and be able to:
* Plan and execute successfully on multiple simultaneous assurance engagements, preferably with controls/process audit experience.
* Understand and evaluate business risks, preferably with experience of regulated financial services firms.
* Engage with and manage diverse junior and senior stakeholders, including at board level.
* Prepare focussed and clear assurance reports.
* Work flexibly across reporting lines for internal audit, risk and compliance as required.
