Supplier Quality Engineer - Defence
Based in Coventry
£25-£30 per hour (Outside IR35)
08:00-16:35 (Mon – Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri) - Onsite Initial 6 Months with possible extensions
The role of a Quality Engineer will involve the following:
1. Strong knowledge of supplier development techniques and execution.
2. Understanding and interpretation of Mechanical and Electrical engineering drawings.
3. Lead and undertake supplier audits and report on Key Performance Indicators through objective assessments of supply chain performance and product quality.
4. Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
5. Assist in the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
6. Carryout and coach the supplier base in Material Review Boards, Root Cause Corrective Action, Non-Conformance Management, design, and development phases of programmes and support the link between Goods-In and the relevant manufacturing facility.
7. Work with inhouse Engineering, Design and Manufacturing departments to define process parameters ensuring that supplier process capability is effective to meet design intent.
8. Support the Product Introduction Management process to ensure that the supplier chain can meets the required standards.
9. Knowledge and experience of coaching and developing internal and external stakeholders in Quality Assurance Tools such as PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, First Article Inspection Reports and Part Submission Warrants.
10. Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018 and Defence AQAP’s.
11. Knowledge of measurement techniques including Metrology, Inspection Methods, and Equipment.
