Key Responsibilities: Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare resources and materials for a variety of DT lessons across all year groups, ensuring they align with the National Curriculum and departmental schemes of work. Maintain the DT workshop(s) to a high standard, ensuring all equipment is safe, operational, and readily available for student use. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement appropriate safety procedures within the DT workshop(s). Order and maintain a comprehensive inventory of DT supplies and equipment. Technical Support: Provide technical support to DT teachers in the planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons. Assist students with the use of tools and machinery, ensuring safe and effective operation within the workshop environment. Troubleshoot and maintain DT equipment, resolving minor technical issues or coordinating repairs with external service providers. Learning Environment: Contribute to the development and enhancement of the DT learning environment, including the organization and layout of the workshop(s). Assist with the creation of engaging and informative displays that showcase student work and inspire creativity. Support the promotion of DT within the wider school community, potentially participating in open evenings or student-led demonstrations. Communication and Collaboration: Maintain clear and professional communication with DT teachers, ensuring efficient planning and preparation for lessons. Work collaboratively with other technicians, teachers, and support staff to ensure the smooth operation of the DT department and the school as a whole. Actively participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the DT curriculum. The Ideal Candidate: Possesses a relevant qualification in Design & Technology, Engineering, or a related field (desirable). Demonstrates a strong understanding of health and safety principles within a workshop environment. Has experience using a variety of DT tools and machinery, with a willingness to learn new techniques and technologies. Possesses excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Maintains a positive and enthusiastic attitude, fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for students. Holds a steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting student well-being.
