Data Scientist - Manchester
A Data Scientist with experience in creating financial models, machine learning, SQL, Python, and forecasting is required by a leading company in Manchester.
As the Data Scientist, you will be responsible for defining and shaping all financial modelling and forecasting to enhance decision making, deliver more targeted acquisition, and drive profitable growth. The tools they are using include SQL, Python, and R, so strong experience in these areas, especially SQL, is essential.
Any experience in Machine Learning would be a significant advantage as this is an area they aim to expand into in the coming years.
Experience required
* Proven predictive modelling, forecasting, and analytical experience with strong SQL, Python, and R skills.
* Some awareness of Machine Learning and its advantages for increasing efficiency in data processing.
* Experience with eCommerce is ideal, as understanding their operations and the types of models needed is crucial.
* Proficiency in data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
* Able to articulate key messages and analysis outcomes clearly and concisely with a pragmatic and analytical mindset.
* A strong academic record with a good honours degree or equivalent qualification in a numerical subject.
* Extensive experience in completing complex data analysis and creating proposals or providing recommendations based on that analysis.
* Any experience with credit risk, risk assessment, Python, Machine Learning, SPSS, SAS, or statistical/MI packages would be a bonus.
This Data Scientist role offers significant autonomy. For example, one project may involve analyzing customer risk profiles, creating models to forecast which customers will provide a better ROI, and helping to define the overall strategy.
Data Scientist Responsibilities
* Define, shape, and maintain all financial modelling and forecasting to enhance decision making, deliver targeted acquisition, and ultimately drive profitable growth.
* Undertake specialized analysis to model historical data and provide forecasts based on various industry-related metrics for a range of propositions.
* Conduct scenario analysis based on various factors to assess risk.
* Proactively recommend and implement updates to financial models during periods of change.
* Review all financial models to arrive at preliminary conclusions and provide good quality and timely financial modelling advice to the business in an understandable manner.
* Champion data quality and integrity, highlighting issues and suggesting appropriate solutions.
* Share knowledge and experience, and mentor team members on analytical and modelling best practices.
