Aboutthe Team
The GrowthDelivery Unit (GDU) is a new team established todrive delivery of the Chancellor’s priorities and support hergrowth mission leadership. We do that by combining policy,analytical, project management and data science skills to monitorthe progress of policies and projects from announcement to actuallydelivering real-world outcomes; identify when and why progress isbeing blocked; and intervene to overcome those barriers. This roleis part of our recruitment to put the GDU on a permanent footingacross both our London and Darlingtonoffices.

Aboutthe Job
This is a new role so itsresponsibilities will inevitably evolve over time and the roleholder should be willing and excited for their responsibilities tochange and expand as the job and the GDU develops. At the outset,the post holder will:
· Planand manage regular complex information-gathering processes acrossgovernment to monitor project delivery. Currently that meanssupervising the process to collate weekly updates on the deliveryprogress of the Chancellor’s top priority growth projects andpolicies; and working with the analysis and data science branch tocontinuously improve the process and automate elements.
· Buildand manage relationships across government to support this processand widercollaboration.
· Developan understanding of the policies and projects being monitored, thewider growth mission, and political and strategic drivers tosupport effective communication of these topics; identifystrategically important issues; and spot risks and blockers todeliveryprogress.
· Workwith colleagues across government to come up with effective andcreative solutions to problems and barriers to delivery.
· Effectivelycommunicate delivery updates and proposed solutions to seniorofficials, special advisors, and ministers, including theChancellor, verbally and in writing. Work with the analysis anddata science branch to communicate via innovative presentationalproducts such as project dashboards when appropriate. Currently wehave a weekly Director General/Special Adviser delivery stocktakemeeting which this role will be expected to regularly lead. Thereis also a weekly Chancellor meeting led by the GDU Deputy Director,who will be looking to this role for support inpreparation.
· Linemanage an SEO policy adviser who will support this deliverymonitoring work. Providing quality branch leadership alongside theE2 Head of Unit and Range E Head of Delivery Governance,maintaining a clear focus on development, inclusion and wellbeing.
