We are looking to recruit a Site Engineer for projects in and around the West Midlands, maintaining and upgrading water treatment works.
About The Role
Responsibilities:
1. Read and understand the Company's Safety Statement and ensure that it is brought to the notice of any employee under your control.
2. Ensure that information affecting the health and safety of any person on a proposed site is brought to the attention of the Regional Director/Project Manager/Site Agent, particularly (but not limited to):
1. Underground services.
2. Ground conditions affecting the stability of excavations or safety of operatives (soil, water table, toxic substances, gases, etc.).
3. Report to Site Manager any unsafe situation observed whilst on site.
4. Carry out your own work in a safe manner, take precautions when working on or near public roads or water, and wear any necessary protective clothing or equipment.
5. Ensure that records are maintained of any underground services laid on site and that, wherever possible, these are defined by marker posts and signs during the construction period.
6. Ensure that any design calculations/temporary works certificates for bespoke scaffolds, falsework, etc. are independently checked.
7. Should the Project Manager/Site Agent be absent for any reason, the Site Engineer will assume this temporary role with regard to Health and Safety and Environmental Issues should they arise.
8. Be familiar with the company's HSQE management systems.
9. Be familiar with current statutory requirements in relation to HSE Legislation or at a minimum know where to get the correct information.
10. Be familiar with the Form of Contract on the Project and the implications that any variation or change orders will have on the program and costs.
11. Be familiar with the program and understand what implications any overrun will have in relation to costs and manpower.
12. Check/understand Specifications, Drawings and other Contract Documents.
13. Set out, level, and survey the site in accordance with the Drawings and Specification.
14. Prepare Labour, Plant & Material Returns.
15. Prepare As-built drawings, technical reports, and site diary.
16. Liaise with the purchasing department to ensure that purchase orders adequately define the specified requirements.
17. Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, site supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce involved in the project.
18. Day-to-day management of the site, including supervising and monitoring the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
19. Plan the work and efficiently organise the plant and site facilities in order to meet programme deadlines.
20. Liaise with the Project Manager/planner regarding construction programme, programme constraints, etc.
21. Compliance with all safety requirements.
22. Resolve technical issues with employer’s representatives, suppliers, subcontractors, and statutory authorities.
23. Quality control in accordance with company procedures, method statements, quality plans, and inspection and test plans.
24. Check materials and work in progress for compliance with the specified requirements.
About You
Requirements:
1. A degree in engineering or equivalent experience to support your competency in the role.
2. A member of the relevant Professional Institution.
3. Relevant construction experience and performance on similar projects with a commitment to carry out the project safely in an environmentally friendly manner.
4. Fluent in English with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
